Henry Shukman, MA, is the Spiritual Director Emeritus of Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is a teacher in the Sanbo Zen lineage and has trained in various other meditation schools and practices. He has been authorized to teach Mindfulness by Shinzen Young and is a certified dreamwork therapist. Henry is author of several books, including Original Love: The Four Inns on the Path of Awakening, One Blade of Grass: Finding the Old Road of the Heart, a Zen Memoir, In Dr No’s Garden, and Mortimer of the Maghreb. He is a poet who has been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Guardian. He is cofounder of the The Way App. His website is henryshukman.com.

At the age of 19, Henry had a spontaneous awakening experience while traveling in South America. He has been able to reclaim and deepen that experience with Zen Buddhism. He shares how meditation and koans can connect us to our original nature of peaceful presence, kindness, freedom, love, and the fundamental ground of being we share with everyone.
