What is EVIL in Anthroposophy?

What is EVIL in Anthroposophy?

Steiner agreed with Theosophists that there is no inherent evil; rather, evil arises when something good is misapplied. Anthroposophy associates evil with two impulses – Luciferian and Ahrimanic.

Ahriman, derived from Zoroastrianism, represents the forces of materialism and rigidity. When in excess, Ahrimanic influence leads to overemphasis on materialism.

Lucifer represents imagination, creativity, and will. Excessive Luciferian influence results in egotism, wilfulness, and loss of reality.

The Christ being stands between the two as a balancing, redeeming force for humanity.
