Travis Dumsday is Chair of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Concordia University of Edmonton, Canada. He is author of several books, including Dispositionalism and the Metaphysics of Science, Alternative Conceptions of the Spiritual: Polytheism, Animism, and More in Contemporary Philosophy of Religion; and The Marian Apparitions at Zeitoun: An Evidential Inquiry.

Here he describes a series of intermittent apparitions associated with a Coptic church in a suburb of Cairo, Egypt, between 1968 and 1971, that were witnessed by over a million people. He evaluates a number of conventional explanations for the phenomena and finds them all incapable of explaining the reported observations.
