Most people either underestimate or overestimate the evidence suggesting the persistence of personal consciousness after bodily death. Those who underestimate don’t realize how impressive the best cases are. Those who overestimate don’t realize how difficult it is to rule out explanations other than survival. We’ll look closely at the major issues.
Biography: Stephen E. Braude is Emeritus Professor and former Chair of Philosophy at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He is past President of the Parapsychological Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientific Exploration, and the recipient of numerous grants and awards including a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, and the F.W.H. Myers Memorial Medal from the Society for Psychical Research. He has also published six books and nearly 100 philosophical and scientific articles.
