Presented on May 11th, 2019 for the Parapsychology Research and Education series (also known as ParaMOOC), Dr Alexander Moreira-Almeida (MD, PhD), Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in Brazil discussed the mind-brain problem. In addition to reviewing the philosophical and theoretical aspects of mind-brain, he talked about the importance of spiritual/psychic experiences, what would constitue evidence for consciousness survival after physical death.
Dr Moreira-Almeida has authored more than 150 scientific papers and book chapters, coordinates TV NUPES, a YouTube channel for science education on the interface between science, health and spirituality, and is the chair of the World Psychiatric Association’s section on Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry, and the coordinator of the section on spirituality of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association.
