Dr Carlos S Alvarado presented “Survival of Death and the Development of Parapsychology” on Sunday April 7th, 2019.
This presentation was given in the Parapsychology Research and Education free online course (also known as ParaMOOC2019), this year focused on “Survival of Death and Parapsychology”.
Abstract: Discussions about survival of death in psychical research tend to be focused in developments from the Anglo-American context, such as the ideas and work of Frederic W.H. Myers, Oliver J. Lodge, James H. Hyslop, Richard Hodgson, and others. But there were also contributions coming from other countries, as seen in the work of Alexander Aksakov, Camille Flammarion, Gustave Geley, Emil Mattiesen, and others. In this presentation I focus on the work and ideas of Italian student of psychic phenomena Ernesto Bozzano (1862-1943).
Presenter bio: Carlos S. Alvarado, Ph.D., is a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation, and Adjunct Research Faculty at Sofia University. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Near-Death Studies and the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, and is the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Parapsychology, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration. His work has centered on survey research (on out-of-body experiences and other psychic experiences) and studies about the history of psychical research. Alvarado is the recipient of the 2010 Parapsychological Association’s Outstanding Contribution Award, the Parapsychological Association 2017 Outstanding Career Award, and has published many papers in parapsychology, psychology and psychiatry journals.
