This video is a special release from the original Thinking Allowed series that ran on public television from 1986 until 2002. It was recorded in about 1992. 

June Singer, PhD, an analytic psychologist, was author of Seeing Through the Visible World: Jung, Gnosis and Chaos; A Gnostic Book of Hours; and Boundaries of the Soul.  Here she discusses Gnosticism as a practice that involved a fusion of Judaism, Christianity and Manicheanism. The Gnostic texts found in the Nag Hamadi scrolls appear to satirize traditional Judeo-Christian myths. The Gnostics believed in the direct apprehension of a spiritual reality that was beyond all definition.
