Cate Montana, MA, is author of Unearthing Venus: My Search for the Woman Within and is coauthor of The Heart of the Matter and Underground Physics. Her most recent book is The E-Word: Ego, Enlightenment and Other Essentials.
Here she describes, from her own experience, stages on the spiritual path. She points out that her greatest epiphanies tended to occur when, after long periods of struggle and effort, she was able to let go of striving. She notes that individuals who attain a state of enlightenment whereby one is simultaneously aware of everything at once typically are unable to sustain life in the physical body for very long. So, she suggests that we might consider calling the process “endeadenment” rather than enlightenment. She also describes her encounter with an Indian teacher named Sadhguru.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. He is a former vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness.
