Jan Mundo, CMSC, CMT, is author of The Headache Healer’s Handbook: A Holistic, Hands-On Somatic Self-Care Program for Headache and Migraine Relief and Prevention. She has held headache programs at medical centers, universities, and corporations. Her website is https://theheadachecoach.com/.
Here she points out that a holistic approach to headache and migraine treatment incorporates diet and exercise, journal keeping, breathing and physical exercises, meditation, and emotional/psychological inner work. Sometimes, a headache contains a message associated with repressed memories. Mundo discovered, as a child, that she was able to ease headache pain through touch and massage; and the method she teaches includes a variety of hands-on techniques. Different techniques work best for different types of headaches.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.
